New album "Passione" on January 29th

Passione” is a Stunning Collection of Mediterranean Love Songs Featuring Duets with Jennifer Lopez, Nelly Furtado and the late Edith Piaf; Album Reunites Bocelli with Multiple Grammy-winning Producer David Foster

LOS ANGELES, CA, NOVEMBER XX, 2012– International superstar Andrea Bocelli will release his new studio album, “Passione” on January 29 on Sugar / Verve Music Group. Filled with romance and beauty, “Passione” is a lush collection of Mediterranean love songs featuring duets with global pop stars Jennifer Lopez, Nelly Furtado, and the late Edith Piaf. The album reunites Bocelli with 16-time Grammy Award-winning producer David Foster, who produced Bocelli’s 2006 release “Amore,” which sold more than 4.2 million copies.

“Passione” is in essence the second volume of “Amore,” with a “fil rouge” which ideally connects the albums. As with “Amore,” which featured timeless masterworks, “Passione” includes several beloved classics such as “Love Me Tender,” “Girl From Ipanema,” and “Sarà Settembre,” (better known to English-speaking audiences as Neil Diamond’s “September Morn”). Jennifer Lopez is featured on the soft and sensual track “Quizás Quizás Quizás” and Nelly Furtado joins Bocelli on “Corcovado.” The album also features a duet with the late French chanteuse Edith Piaf on the song “La Vie En Rose.”

On the album, Bocelli sings in six languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Neapolitan) with his unmistakable voice, as Foster accompanies him on piano, along with Peruvian guitarist Ramon Stagnaro. The sensual sound is rounded out by Cuban, Brazilian, and Portuguese rhythms and a 63-piece orchestra recorded in London.

“Andrea continues to be my favorite singer of all time,” Foster declares. “I pride myself on working with great voices, but he transcends that. He's a singer for all people, from the common man to the Pope.”

Bocelli is an iconic figure in music with a myriad of breathtaking career achievements to his name. The Italian tenor is the most successful classical solo artist ever and one of the best-selling artists in music history, period, with more than 80 million albums sold worldwide. He is also credited with enabling the core classical repertoire to cross over and find a home atop the international pop charts, creating a new genre of music along the way. He has performed for four U.S. presidents, two popes, and the British royal family, as well as at ceremonies for the Olympic Games and the World Cup. He has been praised by such luminaries as Luciano Pavarotti, Franco Corelli (his beloved teacher and guide), Zubin Mehta, José Carreras, Lorin Maazel, Renée Fleming, and Celine Dion.

“Concert of the heart”- One night in Brescia October 10th 2012 “Brescia Teatro Grande”

translation by D. Borgogno

The lights of the room make the golden decorations shine on the ivory background in the five rows of lodges: There are cherubs, masculine and feminine profiles, garlands, musical instruments, allegories….
Even the inside of the boxes (from where we are watching the concert) is dipped in a warm garnet red, a colour which is everywhere: in the armchairs and on the whole height of the curtain: a gigantic drapery which shows through the embroideries and the golden fringes the chromatic opulence of this room which is more than two hundred years old, and of the theatre the “Grande” which is more than three hundred.
Everything is shining brightly, it is an explosion of dazzling reflexes, it is fire that does not burn and yet inflames. It is just like this sensation of expectation for this “Concert of the heart”. It is just like Andrea’s voice. Just like the words of our unexpected speaker with whom we are sharing our box.

iTunes Festival 2012: London, Roundhouse, 18th September 2012

translation by D. Borgogno

Here, where history has passed…

For rock it is the equivalent of what the Scala in Milan represents for lyrical opera. On this stage Pink Floyd held their first live performance; this is where Jimmy Hendrix embraced his Fender Stratocaster guitar. In front of the fiery public of this circular profane temple, Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, the Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Bob Dylan appeared…. In 1968, on the same stage, there were the Doors at their first appearance in London led by Jim Morrison who often sang at the microphone bathed in sweat and full of drugs.

A mythical past, among lights and shadows, and a present full of excitement making the air that can be breathed at the Roundhouse electric, this icon auditorium which has marked the history of the psychedelic musical scene of the Sixties and of the punk era in the following decade.

An anthem to Paradise: the concert, restoration and prayer Florence, Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, 8th September 2012

translation by D. Borgogno

Beyond the Gate

Thanks to music, sometimes it even seems that it could be ideally opened using the key of a violin. The truth is different, however: the Gate of Paradise remains locked, awaiting, in its beauty, among the door jambs of our conscience.

It is not worth forcing the lock. The place that it promises to reveal, that it hides away (and that will be unlocked sooner or later), does without the burden of time: every attempt that we have made to tell the story of the eternal flowers, to represent the garden beyond the gate, is useless and ingenuous. Because we hang on to time, to that heavy intertwined rope, ever since our first breath, while Paradise wants free hands. We are here, trying our best to foresee it, while Paradise is definitely something else as it is not subject to space or time or to the stage of phenomenon.

So we stop, at the doorstep. This condition all but free from impediments, as children, we were able to distinguish it clearly; as we grew up, less and less. And in the fatigue of that stretch, that sees us grasping to the rope, we will try to check the gates, to light the outlines, to work out the materials and decorations. So, when the time comes and we recognize it, we will be able to cross it without hesitations.
