“The Music of Silence”, the movie based on the life of Andrea Bocelli
Antonio Banderas (“Once Upon a Time in Mexico,” “The Expendables 3”), Toby Sebastian (“Game of Thrones”) and Jordi Molla (“Bad Boys II,” “Riddick,” “Blow”) will star in a new movie “The Music of Silence,” based on the life of Italian classical crossover tenor, recording artist, and singer-songwriter Andrea Bocelli, and his memoires of the same title. The film is being directed by Academy Award® nominee Michael Radford (“The Postman,” “The Merchant of Venice”).
This film will feature songs that Bocelli composed when he was young but have never before been released.
AMBI is financing and producing “The Music of Silence.”
Producers of the film are Andrea Iervolino, Monika Bacardi and Roberto Sessa.
Few singers have touched as many hearts as has Andrea Bocelli. The golden-voiced tenor has sung to sold-out audiences all over the world, and his legions of admirers have included Popes, Presidents, and Royals as well as some of the greatest stars of classical and popular music. In “The Music of Silence,” Bocelli tells his own story in the form of an autobiographical novel, naming his alter ego Amos Bardi. He writes of a loving family that encouraged his musical gifts from an early age, of the blindness that began with glaucoma and became complete after a soccer accident, and of the dedication that led to his professional breakthrough and his meteoric rise to stardom.
The first edition of Bocelli’s memoir was published in 1999 and focused on the success and difficulties at the beginnings of his astonishing career. An updated edition is an even deeper and more intimate analysis of his life, loves, and losses – the result of wisdom gained from the increased personal and artistic maturity gained in the subsequent decade of his life.
Toby Sebastian will play Bocelli (Amos) while Banderas will play the role of Maestro, and Molla will star as Amos’s father. Luisa Ranieri (“Letters to Juliet”) will play Bocelli’s mother and Academy Award® nominee Ennio Fantastichini (“Open Doors”) his uncle.
The screenplay was written by Anna Pavignano and Michael Radford in collaboration with Andrea Bocelli.
